According to the film’s official website, the Sword Art Online Progressive films will recount the events of Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online: Progressive light novels. The series of Progressive light novels are Reki Kawahara’s revised retelling of the original Sword Art Online novels. Interestingly, the films will cover Kirito’s quest in the floating Aincrad castle in great detail. In addition, the film will follow Kirito’s journey from start to finish, floor by floor. Will Sword Art Online the Movie: Progressive Be On Crunchyroll?
As of this writing, Crunchyroll has yet to acquire the first of the Sword Art Online Progressive films. As a result, the films are unlikely to be available on Crunchyroll anytime soon. The Sword Art Online anime series and Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale, on the other hand, are available on Crunchyroll. Hence, the two Sword Art Online: Progressive titles are very likely to be added to the streaming platform in the future. Thus, it will be some time before Crunchyroll distributes the film on its streaming platform. Ordinal Scale is the most recent SAO film to be picked up by Crunchyroll. Unfortunately, the film was released in 2017 and Crunchyroll only picked it up in November 2021. If this trend continues, it will be years before the SAO Progressive films are available on Crunchyroll. Let us hope and pray that the SAO Progressive films will be available to Crunchyroll subscribers in a short period of time.
