The latest chapter was released in last Sunday’s Shonen Jump issue. This chapter’s events follow a swordsman who is looking for a weapon to use in a pile of old toys. What he spots should be a familiar sight to most anime fans. While he does find a sword, it turns out to be a small replica of a Nichirin blade from Demon Slayer. It may look like a random katana at first, but when it was picked up, the sword exclaimed “First Form!! Water Surface Slash!!". Sadly, the swordsman doesn’t pick this weapon up and instead goes with a different blade. Though it’s still funny to see such an overt reference in another Shonen Jump series. After this, fans should probably be on the lookout for even more funny references in the coming chapters. Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga series by Gege Akutami that is serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. It is one of Shonen Jump’s most popular ongoing series and has received an anime adaptation from MAPPA. The series follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who swallows a cursed finger and becomes the host of a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna. Because of this, he is marked for execution. Although, he is saved by Satoru Gojo, a professor at the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, who invites him to be trained as a Jujutsu Sorcerer. Meanwhile, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a manga by Koyoharu Gotouge that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. Like Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer is also one of Shonen Jump’s biggest hits with over 150 million copies in circulation, as well as a popular anime adaptation from Ufotable. Both series are considered part of Shonen Jump’s next generation of shonen as they both became popular during the latter half of the 2010s. And while the Demon Slayer manga is already finished, the anime is still going strong. As for Jujutsu Kaisen, the next chapter is set to release on Sunday, September 4, 2022, in the next Weekly Shonen Jump issue. New chapters are also released outside Japan through Manga Plus and Viz Media.
