One of the beloved DC characters that fans are hoping to see in the future of the franchise is Green Lantern, who wasn’t a key player in its former DCEU iteration although there is an HBO Max series that is currently in development at the moment. Will the character finally be involved in the new DCU? Recently, a fan responded to Gunn’s Thanksgiving post on Twitter that has an image of some of the DC characters celebrating the holiday where they wrote, “No Green Lantern in this image therefore I can confidently claim that Gunn and Safran have no intention of adding that character into the DCU, this is a scoop I am 100% confident in.”
Just soon after, Gunn replied to the fan where he seemingly disputed their assumption that Green Lantern is not part of their DCU plans. “Probably not a good scoop! Happy Thanksgiving!,” he wrote back. While he didn’t confirm that the iconic DC hero is going to be part of the new franchise’s future, a lot of fans believe that Gunn is hinting in his response that they are considering the character to be a major player in the DCU, especially that he didn’t outright dispute it. Obviously, we don’t have the details yet on their plans for Green Lantern’s potential appearances in the DCU, but this is nonetheless an exciting prospect since a lot of fans have been clamoring for the hero to finally appear on the screen as part of the official DCU. After all, Green Lantern has always been a cornerstone part of DC Comics. For now, all we can do is wait on what Gunn and Safran have in store for the long-term plan for the new iteration of the DCU franchise.
