DC League of Super-Pets is finally out in theaters and the audience is enjoying DC’s animated flick that focused on our favorite Justice League heroes’ pets. It also marks the official DC big-screen debut of Dwayne Johnson before his live-action appearance as Black Adam later this year.
Just like most comic book films nowadays, DC League of Super-Pets also had a post-credits scene where they featured the cameo appearances of Black Adam and his dog Anubis (both also voiced by Johnson) who were encountered by Superman and Krypto. Their appearances are an obvious nod to Johnson’s upcoming live-action DC role.
Today, Johnson addressed on Instagram the surprise cameo of Black Adam and Anubis in the post-credits of DC League of Super-Pets in which he revealed that their appearances were his idea. He also thanked the fans as the film became no. 1 at the domestic weekend box office.
“You guys already know how I feel about Superman vs. Black Adam. The Indestructible Force meets the Immovable Object,” Johnson wrote. “With the DC Super Pets Universe, we had an opportunity to build out this awesome animated universe in a big, fun, cool way.”
The actor also teased his production company Seven Bucks’ involvement in building out the “Black Adam DC Universe” and “DC Super Pets Universe” and that the two films are “just the beginning.”
It’s not surprising to hear that it was Johnson who came up with the idea of the cameo appearances since he is also a producer on the film and he would obviously make a reference to his upcoming film as some sort of cross-promotion and tease for fans.
If the film continues to be a box office success, there is no doubt that Warner Bros. and DC will move forward with a sequel and build the “DC Super Pets Universe” that Johnson teased in his post.
