Disney has set a December 19, 2025 release date for the next untitled Star Wars movie according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter regarding the studio’s update in their release calendar. This also comes as they officially pulled off Rogue Squadron from its supposed theatrical release next year. In addition, the studio has also set a December 17, 2027 release date for another untitled Star Wars film. However, it is unknown yet whether this is connected to the 2025 film or is separate on its own.
Lucasfilm is currently working on several Star Wars theatrical projects such as the one directed by Taika Waititi, the one produced by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, and the delayed Rogue Squadron helmed by Patty Jenkins. However, it is unknown yet which of them is being set for the 2025 date. While the studio has not made any concrete announcement regarding its theatrical plans, this is a sign that they are still committed to releasing a feature film in the future. However, it will still all depend if they’ll also end up being delayed or put on hold just like some of the other projects. Either way, there is still hope about the future of the theatrical side of the franchise and it is interesting to see what kind of direction they are going to take next on its big screen venture.
