Bocchi the Rock! Is Quickly Gaining Love From Fans
If you aren’t familiar, Bocchi the Rock! is an anime series by CloverWorks that’s based on the manga series of the same name by Aki Hamaji. The show’s title is a reference to the Japanese phrase “hitori-bocchi” which means alone or lonely. This reflects the series’ main character, Hitori Gotou, who is a shy high school girl who dreams of being in a band. Because of her extreme introversion, Hitori is too shy to ask to join any band, but she luckily meets Nijika Ijichi, a girl who plays drums and is looking for a new guitarist for her band. Hitori soon joins Nijika’s band called the Kessoku Band alongside other members Ryou Yamada and Ikuyo Kita. The Bocchi the Rock! manga is a moderate hit as its serialization has been ongoing for years now. But it’s still fair to say that the series wasn’t as hyped as the big hitters of the Fall 2022 season like Chainsaw Man or Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Now though, Bocchi the Rock! is becoming one of the highlights of the season. It’s even the third highest-rated anime of Fall 2022 on MyAnimeList as of this article’s writing.
