Rein freaked out when he found out that he had to share the bedroom with Kanade. Although they got separate single beds, he was still unsure how this arrangement would work. Meanwhile, the Adventurer’s Guild praised their efforts in Ebon Fang’s destruction. Taking the last mission into consideration, Rein got a special promotion to E-rank. Moreover, both Kanade and Rein got quite a lot of rewards. They even splurged on dinner to celebrate the success of their mission. However, Rein was worried about sharing the room with Kanade and offered to sleep outside. Sleeping in the same room with a girl was a no-no for Rein. Kanade stated that she was confident that Rein wouldn’t do any funny business. Despite the reluctance, Rein agreed to sleep in the same room with her. After Rein fell asleep, Kanade said to herself that she was fortunate to have encountered someone like him. She wanted Rein to smile from his heart, and she vowed to always be by his side. A week passed since Rein met Kanade and they completed several missions together. Rein noted that he was enjoying his life as a peaceful adventurer. Later, Natalie, the receptionist at the Adventurer’s Guild, informed Rein and Kanade about a thug who was troubling people on the Stride Bridge. Natalie stated that the thug picks a fight with anyone who crosses the bridge. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported. However, the recent incidents have led to a dramatic decrease in people who use the bridge. Natalie asked if Rein was ready to accept this quest. He wondered if an E-rank adventurer such as himself was fit for such a quest. Natalie offered him five gold coins, so Rein agreed to do the mission. Stride Bridge is the only road that connects the central continent to the southern continent. Later, the duo headed for the bridge. Kanade was mesmerized by the sheer size of the bridge. Meanwhile, Rein wondered who the Guard Dog tormenting the citizens was. He noted that none of his victims came forward and spoke about the incident. He remarked that they cannot keep their guards down against this unknown enemy. In the meantime, a red dragon flew over them and landed close to the duo. The dragon transformed into a female humanoid and expressed her desire to fight the duo. Rein asked if she was the dreaded Guard Dog terrorizing the people crossing the bridge. She introduced herself as Tania, a Dragonoid, and she was using the bridge as her training arena. Reid was confused and Kanade explained that after a dragon turns 15, they need to travel alone to be accepted as a powerful dragon. Tania confirmed that she was looking for strong people and was excited to fight an elite adventurer and a cat spirit. She added that she doesn’t mind a 2 vs. 1 battle. Both Rein and Kanade accepted the challenge. Tania started the battle by throwing a punch at the adventurer who barely managed to defend himself. Tania then launched a fire attack at the pair. Due to the fiery attack, Kanade’s tail caught fire. Kanade was furious and went on to attack Tania. Meanwhile, Rein was amazed to see Kanade as she was giving her opponent a tough fight. As the battle progressed, Rein decided to tame a bird called Pito and use its poison to immobilize Tania. Eventually, Tania surrendered and Rein asked her to come with them. Back at the Adventurer’s Guild, Rein and Kanade reported to Natalie. However, before Tania could say anything, Rein stopped her and left the guild in a hurry. Outside, Tania almost revealed her true identity. The trio quickly rushed toward the outskirts of the town. Rein was strict with Tania and asked her not to repeat her mistakes. Tania was impressed by Rein and asked him to tame her. Reluctantly, he agreed and formed a contract with Tania. Elsewhere, Arios complained about the team wasting their efforts while fighting monsters in the Lost Woods. Arios decided to bring Rein back into the hero’s party and dump him again after they complete the quest.
